In 1922, 29 year old German candy maker Hans Riegel introduced a revolutionary new product to candy fans in his native Bonn: the gummi bear. Besides gummi bears, Haribo has also introduced well known sweet treats such as licorice snails (Lakritzschnecken) and marshmallow candies.  As a family business in its third generation, Haribo celebrated their 100 year anniversary in 2020 and 100 Years of Goldbears in 2022. Haribo also features a number of well-known Rhineland licorice treats, such as Katinchen licorice cats (a nod to the famous Katjes licorice cats).  Made in Germany.
